McPhail trap is a plastic trap of two interlocking sections -an inverted yellow funnel base with a small entrance at the bottom for insects, with a transparent, clear upper cap and a basket or cage to hold the pheromone dispenser.

How it works | Flies enter the trap through the opening at the bottom of the inverted funnel base attracted by the pheromone lure that is kept in the basket hanging inside. Once inside the trap, they remain held by the pheromone attraction and by the light entering through the clear top. When exhausted they fall into the liquid contained in the inverted funnel base where they drown. This liquid consists of water mixed with detergent or insecticide. It can also be substituted by a cotton absorbant wad containing a strongly smelling insecticide. |

Storage/Safety/Disposal precautions:
- Store away from sunlight until the actual moment of placing in the field.
- Avoid dropping from heights on to hard surfaces to prevent breakage.
- Do not use if the base is broken.
- Keep away from fire and heat of 60 degrees Celsius plus temperature.
- Mode of disposal and precautions to be same as to those followed while disposing of any regular plastic product.
