Agriculture in India has shifted to intensive cropping of high yielding varieties which has led to depletion of soil nutrients. While primary nutrients (N: P: K) have been used more than sufficiently, secondary macro nutrient application has been ignored. The excess use of synthetic NPK fertilizer and very less use of organic matter led to increase in soil pH which directly impacts the soil biological activity and crop yield.
